2-AP   2-Allylphenol or Ortho-allylphenol CAS No. 1745-81-9

2-AP is a high purity monomer, which can be used as intermediate in the pharmaceutical industry, for example for producing Alprenolol (Aptine), a beta-blocking agent.

It can also be used to produce allyl substituted phenolic and polyester resins, the allyl group allowing subsequent cure of the polymers.

Others uses include production of silanes, which can be polymerised into polyolefines via the allyl group, and the incorporation in curable aryloxyphosphazene copolymers, which are used in fire proof foams.
