MPEM-7, MPEM-12 and MPEM-16 are the seven, twelve and sixteen mole adducts of ethylene oxide to methacrylic acid, capped by a methoxy group. They readily copolymerise with a variety of monomers in aqueous solution to produce water soluble polymers, useful as antiscalants, rheology modifiers and in cosmetic applications. They can be also used in emulsion polymerisation to modify the wetting properties of the resultant polymers.
