APD is in the class of unsaturated diols, combining two hydroxyl groups and an allyl group in a single molecule. It can be incorporated by chain extension into urethanes or polyesters to provide sites for subsequent crosslinking through the pendant allyl groups. It can also be copolymerized with vinyl, acrylic or other monomers through its allyl group to provide polymers with pendant hydroxyl groups.
